Who hosts the awards? Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India hosts the award
How many years has this awards been conducted? This is the fourth year for NEA
How can one apply? One can apply on the website www.neas.gov.in
Can I submit a hardcopy? No, a hardcopy cannot be submitted. Applications have to be submitted only on the website
What is the cost/payment to apply? There is no cost/payment to apply
What is the age restriction for the awards? Entrepreneurs who are being nominated should be upto the age of 40 years as on April 1st 2019. No separate age relaxation will be given to candidates from SC, ST and Persons with Disability (PwD) category.
Who all can apply for the awards? Any Indian national working in the Indian Territory and who fits to the eligibility criteria, can apply for the awards. Please refer to eligibility criteria for details in the Guidelines section.
What is the last date for filing nominations? September 10, 2019
How can I nominate an entrepreneur? You can nominate an entrepreneur online through our online applications
Who can be nominated for the award? You can nominate any enterprise,owned by a first generation entrepreneur. You can also self nominate if you are the founder/co-founder (first generation) of an enterprise yourself.
Can I nominate myself or my company for the award? Yes. You can nominate yourself if you are the founder/co-founder (first generation) of an enterprise.
How many nominations can be made from the same individual? Maximum of 10 applications can be nominated.
If my company has offices in different regions, where would I submit the nomination? The registered address of the company should be submitted in the nominated.
What do you mean by First generation entrepreneur? An entrepreneur who is not in the same line of business as his/her parent. They should have started the enterprise on their own initiative, idea or innovation
What if I am not able to complete my application? Only completed applications will be processed to the subsequent round.
What is meant by award track? NEA awards are given in two tracks: enterprise award track and Ecosystem Builders track
Is my submission confidential? Yes, by participating in the National Entrepreneurship Awards, the enterprise, nominator, nominee agrees to Government of India’s and its partners’ use of its name, URL, photos and videos for promotional purposes on its website and in other promotional material. However all Support Agency(s), Lead Partner, Regional Partners, will sign (physically or digitally), a non-disclosure agreement with MSDE
What happens after I submit?/What are the stages for the award? Once the application form is submitted, it will be filtered through the following stages :

What do I get as part of the award if I am selected? If you are a winner you receive a trophy, a certificate and a cash prize.

Is there a participation certificate? Shortlisted Nominees at the National Jury selection will be issued a certificate of participation
What is the periodicity of the award? National Entrepreneurship Awards are presented every Calendar year.
I applied last year, can I reapply? Yes, you can apply. However, if you are an awardee you cant apply for 3 years.

Yes, A single nominee may be nominated for Special Category Awards along with Sector Category Award as a general candidate; however final selction for the award will be done only in one category either in special category or in general category where the nominee's candidature is found to be most deserving.

Who can apply for the enterprise award? A first generation entrepreneur upto the age of 40 can apply for the award.
What are the categories for the eneterprise award? There are 3 award categories, based on the nature and scale of the business. The 3 categories broadly are :
A1 : Initial Investment of the enterprise should not exceed mroe than 1 lakh
A2 : Initial investment of the enterprise should be greater than ₹ 1 Lakh but should not exceed ₹ 10 Lakh
A3 : Initial Investment of the Enterprise has to be above ₹10 Lakhs to ₹1 Crore

Can I apply in more than 1 category for the award? Yes,A single nominee may be nominated for Special Category Awards along with the Sector Category Award as a general candidate
What is a special category award? Special Category awards are awarded for those entrepreneurs who face unfavourable business environment for one or more reasons. These include Women, SC/ST, Persons with Disabilities and those located in the remote and difficult areas

What if our company has multiple founders? If the company has mutliple founders, it is advisable to nominate the enterprise in the name of one of the founders. For A2 and A3 cetegory of the award, these details can be provided as the founding team details
How do I apply? You can apply online on the website http://neas.gov.in
What information is collected in the application? For each application, information about the founder and the organisation is requested. Submissions will exclusively be digital.
What are the deadlines for the applications? Early completion of application is encouraged. Application closes by Sep 10,2019
Can past winners apply? Winners of the award, for the last 3 years are not eligible to apply
What is the Common Eligibility Criteria for all categories? The common eligibility criteria for all categories are: Entrepreneur’s age should be upto the age of 40 years as on April 1st 2019 verifiable from at least one of the Government approved ID cards. What is the specific category for A1 award? Initial investment of the enterprise should not exceed ₹ 1 Lakh
Enterprise may be a formal or an informal entity with bank account as evidence of business activities.
Entrepreneur must be a founder/co-founder of an enterprise/sole proprietorship firm/ partnership/own account enterprise.
What is the specific category for A2 award? Initial investment of the enterprise should be greater than ₹ 1 Lakh but should not exceed ₹ 10 Lakh.

The Enterprise may be a formal or an informal entity, however, the Enterprise must provide evidence of its existence, including a bank account as evidence of business activities. Some of the examples of such evidences could be: In the case of an informal entity: the entity can be a sole proprietorship firm/partnership/ own account enterprise but having one of the following: Bank Account, Registration with a Government/Non-Governmental Organizations In the case of a formal entity: the entity can be registered under Companies or Cooperative Act, or a Partnership/Producer Company/ Limited Liability Partnership firm or an entity having a formal Memorandum of Association and/or Articles of Association It is desirable but not mandatory for the enterprise to have some necessary industry certifications (example: CE, FSSAI, MSME, etc.) and/or a dedicated current or savings bank account, or registered with Governmental and Non-Governmental organisation
What is the specific category for A3 award? The Initial Investment of the Enterprise has to be above ₹10 Lakhs to ₹1 Crore. The entity has to be a formal entity, and can be registered under Companies Act, or Cooperative Act, or a Partnership/Producer Company/ Limited Liability Partnership firm or an entity having a formal Memorandum of Association and/or Articles of Association;
*** In addition, the enterprise should fulfil the following criteria: The enterprise must mandatorily have any one of statutory documents (Audited Balance Sheet or Profit & Loss (P&L) Account, Incorporation Certificate, etc.) The enterprise must have applicable trade-specific registrations (example: CE, FSSAI, MSME, GST Registration, etc.) The enterprise must not have defaulted to any lenders in the past 4 years (FY 15-16, 16-17, 17-18, 18-19) nor by its group entities or its promoters. No defaults and delays in paying the statutory dues.
How will the winners be identified for the enterprise track? winners will be identified through a process of self-nomination (or nomination by a nominator), screening, multi-stage evaluation, physical verification and jury selection.
How many awards are given in this track? Thirty-nine (39) awards will be awarded in this Track.

What is meant by initial investment? Initial investment is the capital investment made during the initial Financial Year of the start of the Enterprise.
Who is a first- generation entrepreneur? An Entrepreneur who is not in the same line of business as his/her parent(s). Such Entrepreneurs should have started the enterprise on their own initiative, idea or innovation.

Is it mandatory to upload supporting documents? For A1 & A2 category it is not mandatory to submit supporting documents. However due weightage will be given to the application that submits all supporting documents. For A3 category, it is mandatory to submit all supporting documents.

What is B2C? B2C stands for Business to Consumer.This type of company is any business selling directly to consumers

Is the financial information necessary? Yes, Financial information is necessary for A2 and A3 category awards.
The financial information of my company is confidential and I cannot release it. Can I still compete? For A2 and A3 category awards, financial information along with necessary supporting documents are mandatory.
What will happen if the nominator/ nominee submit incorrect information/ documents? In case of incorrect information/ documents, the nomination will be immediately rejected. If the nominator repeatedly submits incorrect information, the nominator, nominee or both will be blacklisted from participating in NEA 2019
What are the key documents required for the application of A2 and A3 category? The applications for A2 and A3 require the following key documents from the applicant- Audited Bank Statements or Self-attested scanned copy of Bank Passbook (first & last Page) Cash Flow Statement MoA and AoA (of the enterprise and/or of the co-producers) Balance Sheet and P&L (last four years) Details of patents/ trademarks/ copyrights etc., if any Mandatory Industry Certifications Credentials of the founding team members Business flow diagram, if any Letter of recognition/certificate of award etc. won in the last 4 years Any other supporting document to substantiate the data
Is it mandatory to attach image/certificates etc about the enterprise? No, It is not mandatory to attach images/certificates for A1 and A2 category awards. However, providing images and certificates can earn the enterprise more weigtage as it provides the evaluators more insight to the venture. For A3 category, it is mandatory to submit images & certificates.
Will there be any physical examination and verification of selected enterprises? Yes. Regional teams will conduct field visits to verify the information provided by the nominator/ nominee before qualifying them for the final round of evaluation.
Can I submit certificates during field visit? No, Documents need not be submitted during field visit.

Whatis the common criteria to apply for A3 award? a. Entrepreneur’s age should be upto the age of 40 years as on April 1st 2019 verifiable from at least one of the Government approved ID cards
b. The candidate should be a First-Generation Entrepreneur/s. The definition of a first-generation entrepreneur for NEA is “An entrepreneur who is not in the same line of business as his/her parent. They should have started the enterprise on their own initiative, idea or innovation”.
c. The Entrepreneur(s) must own Stake in the Enterprise as per the Enterprise Awards Track - Eligibility Criteria Table in this section."
Whatis the specific criteria for A3 award? a. The Initial Investment of the Enterprise has to be above ₹10 Lakhs to ₹1 Crore.
b. The entity has to be a formal entity, and can be registered under Companies Act, or Cooperative Act, or a Partnership/Producer Company/ Limited Liability Partnership firm or an entity having a formal Memorandum of Association and/or Articles of Association;
c. In addition, the enterprise should fulfil the following criteria:
i. The enterprise must mandatorily have any one of statutory documents (Audited Balance Sheet or P&L Account, Incorporation Certificate, etc.)
ii. The enterprise must have applicable trade-specific registrations (example: CE, FSSAI, MSME, GST Registration, etc.)
iii. The enterprise must not have defaulted to any lenders in the past 4 years (FY 15-16, 16-17, 17-18, 18-19) nor by its group entities or its promoters. No defaults and delays in paying the statutory dues.
What is the initial investment required to qualify for A3 awards? The Initial Investment of the Enterprise has to be above ₹10 Lakhs to ₹1 Crore.
What are the prize details for Enterprise Awards Track? a. A Trophy

c. Cash Award of ₹ 5 Lakhs to the enterprise
If it’s a company what is the eligibility? Majority “promoter-founder” shareholders must hold 26% or more equity currently Majority “promoter-founder” shareholders must have held 51% or more at the incorporation stage
If it’s a partnership firm what is the eligibility? Majority owners’ stake must belong to person/persons who are aged less than 40 years Majority owners must be First-Generation Entrepreneurs Majority owners must hold more than 51% or more ownership, must be with First Generation Entrepreneurs of age less than 40 years
Can a sole propreitorship firm apply for the A3 category? No, Sole propreitorship is not eligible for A3 Category

Eligibility criteria of Ecosystem Builder Track for all four awards for institutions/organisations/incubators/mentors/promoters should have completed a minimum six years of service in their respective field as on April 1st, 2019.

They are well established and recognised in their field and entrepreneurs skill development. The trainees incubates, mentees and enterprises (hereinafter referred to as candidates) supported by them should have made significant progress in their ventures due to the efforts of such Ecosystem Builders. Such Ecosystem Builders will have to provide references to such candidates.

What is the eligibility criteria for ecosystem awards?

Entrepreneurship Development Institutes/Organisations: Refers to Institutes/ organizations teaching, training and offering courses on entrepreneurship development. There is one (1) award under this category.

Incubation Centres: Refers to Institutes/organizations providing incubation, mentorship and handholding support. There are two (2) awards under this category, one for Incubation Centres in the Public Sector and one for Incubation Centres in the Private Sector

Mentors: Refers to educationists, advisors, consultants working towards entrepreneurship development. There are two (2) awards under this category, one for Mentors in the Public Sector and one for Mentors in the Private Sector.

Promoters of Rural Producer Enterprises: Refers to institutions/organizations or individuals directly involved in the promotion of farmer producer companies/cooperatives or SHG enterprises through mentoring and providing soft skill support such as development of organisational structure, training on management skills, conflict resolutions, etc. Such institutions/organisations may be governmental, non-governmental, private institutions or persons working in their individual capacity. There is one (1) award under this category.
